We are excited to invite you to our workshop "Breaking Stereotypes," which aims to challenge the propagated stereotypes in Bollywood songs.

In this interactive workshop, we will collectively deconstruct iconic Bollywood songs that have reinforced gender stereotypes in the collective consciousness of the subcontinent. We will discuss how these stereotypes have influenced the lives and existence of the transgender community in India, often leading to misunderstanding, ridicule, and a lack of respect.
Through discussions, lectures, and the viewing of selected scenes and songs from various decades, we will examine the gender roles present in popular Hindi films. Additionally, we will explore the portrayals of transgender individuals in these films and their lasting impact on collective consciousness.
The highlight of the workshop will be the opportunity for participants to reinterpret a Bollywood song. Supported by a choreographer (Hrishikesh Pawar) and a Cinematographer/Editor (Mohammed Al Balushi) we will create a film to correct gender roles and societal positioning, especially for transgender individuals.
Let's break stereotypes together and foster a more inclusive Bollywood culture. We look forward to inspiring discussions and creative collaboration!
