Hasenheide is a large, mature city park located in Neukölln. A mixture of protected woodland, open meadows, Rixdorfer Höhe (a large hill) and Rixdorfer Teich provide a wide variety of habitat for a large number of bird species. Neukölln Zoo at the north end of the park is home to some exotic avian surprises. Tempelhofer Feld has become a refuge for many bird species whose populations have been devastated by disastrous agricultural practices. A one kilometre walk around the northeast perimeter leads to Schiller Kiez. The Jerusalem V cemetery seems somewhat neglected which is a great advantage for the resident birds. The walk ends at Hermannstraße U-Bahn Leinestraße where the Spore Initiatives, an environmental organisation, has a cafe and exhibitions about ecological themes.
